How we serve
Our goal is to meet our community members where they are at. Through various projects and programs, we strive to make an impact.
Polly Project
The "Polly Project" supports families facing the unimaginable loss of a child while honoring the memory of Polly, the daughter of former WPJA member Meg Pierce. Through this initiative, our chapter donates bereavement books to local healthcare providers, offering comfort, guidance, and solace to grieving families.
Ham For the Holiday
We know that the busy Christmas season involves a lot of time spent with family, often times for a meal around the table. That's why our Provisional class looked to bless several families in the community with the inaugural Ham for the Holiday giveaway.
Backpack Buddies
According to the Mississippi Food Network, more than 1 in 4 children go to bed hungry most nights. We know that number isn't just a statistic but a reflection of an issue that is happening right here in our community. Through our Backpack Buddies program, members pack bags full of food and drinks to send home with children over the weekend who may need it most.
Schools
Through our schools committee, our chapter strives to assist wherever we are needed. Yearly we hold a school supplies drive and weekly members fill uniform request for families who need help.
Children's Literacy
Literacy is far more than just the ability to read and write, it is the foundation for learning, communication, and participation in society. That's why our organization partners with the Bryan Public Library to host member led story time sessions and reading-based events throughout the year.
Child Welfare
We believe in investing in organizations that are already making a meaningful impact. As part of our Child Welfare Project, we partner with Sally Kate Winters. Each month, our members volunteer to plan fun activities and take children staying at the shelter out for a day of laughter and adventure. It’s a chance for kids to simply be kids.
